Some guests find it challenging to make reservations during peak hours, particularly on Sunday afternoons when the pub reaches full capacity quickly. This might require planning ahead, especially for larger groups. A few diners have noted that while the food is generally fantastic, the occasional wait during busy dinner periods can put a damper on the experience.
Parking, while available, can sometimes become limited during busy times, which may inconvenience some visitors. Overall, however, these minor issues do not overshadow the overwhelmingly positive dining experience at The SPREAD.

Popped in speculatively while driving past on the A1 and was instantly made to feel welcome by the staff despite having made no booking. Wow, what a find! Easy to access from either northbound or southbound carriages and SO much better than the motorway services. I had the beer pie that was properly meaty and it was a proper pie - not just a pot-pie like so many venues serve. Also a good range of real ales. An excellent village pub - we will return!
5 of us ate at the Spread on Saturday 6th Oct. We were told the food is very good. Well it was excellent! Beautifully served up, couldn’t fault the chef on anything. Lovely atmosphere and the staff very friendly. Thankyou all at the Spread for a lovely evening.
The food is amazing, my son and I had the two course for £15.99 each. My grandson had the childrens chicken burger with chip which also came with 2 scoops of ice cream for dessert. Staff are very accommodating, pleasant, very welcoming. Will definitely be returning. Thank you for a lovely experience.
Wow. Lovely midweek lunch of bacon steaks, lovely buttery mash etc all brilliant. Very attentive to my food allergy, great service and lovely surroundings. I can highly recommend and look forward to returning again.
Stopped on our 6 hour drive home from lakes and wow. What a place to stop. Amazing food. Simoly superb. Would highly recommend
Always heard that the spread had great food...But never came as it was in the opposite direction to me. Today decided to come for lunch. Upon entering it was a cosy laid back pub, which I loved... I hate pubs where it's full of loud people drinking for their lives! We got seated by the window in the bar area and opted for a Sunday lunch,. A pie bar snack, extra veg, and two desserts. What I didn't know at the time was the waiting time. Be warned there is a long wait for food. I was later told that it is because they are very popular and the kitchen is very small so it's hard to pump out high volumes of food... But trust me... It was worth the wait. The belly pork which the waitress helped me choose over beef was delicious, vegetables cooked just right, roast potato soft and full of flavour and that Yorkshire pudding... It was so light and fluffy!!! Partners chicken and leek pie snack... That was so tasty as well... Normally they can be dry but this one at the Spread was full of flavour moist and the pastry again yummy. We ordered dessert, I can never resist a creme brulee ...And I'm biased I will always say every creme brulee is good!!! My partner got the sticky toffee pudding...To me I'm like pah, no thanks...But wow... Would I be training my creme brulee if I said the sticky toffee pudding was better ! It was sweet but not sickly. It had. A great moist chew to it and the quality of the ice cream... And ingredients used in the home made food was excellent The young waitresses ... Don't be biased. Yes they are young but you can tell they live working there. And knowledgeable. Highly recommend I have found another one of my top fav places to eat in the world Thank you The spread, compliments to the chef today and the staff who served us
